Yummy Chocolate Fountains

chocolate fountainYou will need chocolate fountains, as well as some supplies such as food to dip in the chocolate, utensils, and the yummiest chocolates – a good variety on hand (to order) would be good so you can accommodate your customer’s requests. You can rent out your chocolate fountains for about $500 per event.

Occasions people might rent a chocolate fountain are many. Weddings would be a big seller, as well as holidays, birthday parties, catered dinner parties, etc.

You could start a business renting out chocolate fountains to those interested in using these in their functions. You will have to make some initial investments in this business, consisting of mainly a number of chocolate fountains. Together with this, it is necessary to have a good variety of chocolates at hand to use in your chocolate fountain. You could also cater to the requests of your customers by buying and using their choice of chocolate gifts and chocolate candy in the chocolate fountain if required also.

When hiring out your chocolate fountains, rent them at a reasonable rate, at about $500 per function. There is no specific function that has a priority for chocolate fountains. You expect orders for chocolate fountains during holidays, birthday parties, weddings, catered dinner parties, and a host of other occasions. When hiring out your chocolate fountain, it is necessary that you either go on your own to handle the chocolate fountain or send an attendant.

fountainYou or the attendant has to set up the fountain at the site of the function. Then you have to show the guests how to use the fountain, and at the same time make sure that everything works out fine in the function. You have to take along food for dipping in chocolate. This could be anything from bananas, biscuits, cakes, and anything that works out well with chocolates. You then have to skewer the food to display them with the fountain. With this, you can create an elegant and beautiful presentation for the fountain, and its dipping items.

Once you set up yourself with this business, you will have to invest in advertisements and marketing so that people will be aware of your business. This is a relatively new business, so not many people will be aware of it. You should create flyers to display in shopping malls and in community centers. It would be better for you if you could arrange for a demonstration in a shopping mall, where shoppers would get to know of such a facility existing. You can sell, ‘chocolate dipping’, in the shopping mall and people will sure love it. You just have to take along some bamboo sticks for skewing, food for skewering, and some small plates or napkins to prevent the chocolate from dripping on your customers’ bodies!

Once your chocolate fountain becomes famous, you are sure to get many people waiting and vying for your fountain. People will be waiting to meet you in functions and shopping centers just to eat your delicious chocolate and relive childhood passions and dreams of chocolates!

Eat Chocolate and Look Younger!

gifts of chocolateChocolate as an anti-aging technique, is this some type of joke? Nope! The facts are in chocolate is bursting with antioxidants. An antioxidant is a molecule capable of slowing or preventing the oxidation of other molecules. The chemical reaction of oxidation can produce free radicals, which start a chain reaction of cell damage.

Antioxidants actually stop these negative chain reactions. Many fresh fruits and vegetables have a high quantity of antioxidants, but pure raw chocolate is chocked full of flavonoids, which are some of the most powerful antioxidants on earth.

There is a trick to the chocolate though, you have to eat it raw. Now you are wondering, what is raw chocolate? Well, it helps to start from the beginning. Until recently I never really took much thought about where chocolate comes from. I just figured it came from the Hershey chocolate factory. But there is in fact a “chocolate tree.” The tree was named Theobroma cacao, in Latin that means ‘food of the gods.’ Well, this ‘food of the gods” is actually cacao beans. They grow on the tree. Some people call them nuts, but they are actually seeds. Once you remove the skin you have the cacao or chocolate. Now, before you roast it, process it, and load it with refined sugar -that is raw chocolate.

Heating the cacao beans kills most of the antioxidants and other minerals and vitamins in the chocolate. In order to preserve the nutrients the beans must be dried at a low temperature, typically below 120 degrees. Then they can be enjoyed whole as nibs (the bean with the skin removed), in bits, or as a powder.

Raw cacao has a bitter flavor like dark chocolate. Some enjoy it just like that. Others prefer to sweeten it by blending it with other natural ingredients like fruit or honey. I prefer it mixed into a fruit smoothie with other raw, fresh fruits.

Any way you enjoy it raw cacao is one of the most, if not the most, nutrient rich and complex foods known to man. Loaded with antioxidants, it neutralizes free radicals-rogue oxygen molecules that can accelerate aging and the problems that come with it. So to help you look younger, feel younger, and live longer -eat chocolate candy it is important to your health. Visit your local health food store and pick up some organic, raw chocolate today!

Cracking Mom’s Secret Chocolate Cake Recipe

chocolate cakeResistance is futile! It is indeed hard to resist the sweet smell of chocolate cake, especially when the aroma is linked with nice memories. I love all things chocolate in case you can’t notice, especially chocolate candy.
My mom is person that is always willing to share. Not only is she generous with her advice, but she can share with you anything that she knows. she is always willing to explain sewing, cooking, or advanced mathematics. But there is one thing that she guards jealously. It is her biggest secret, and one that she has sworn she will carry to the grave. And that is her chocolate cake recipe. We have been trying to get it from her for years, and have so far been unsuccessful.

This isn’t some normal chocolate mix cake recipe. This is sincerely gourmet. It is not an uncomplicated chocolate cake recipe, either. Chocolate cake is normally very easy to cook, but hers requires all day and all night. She is plainly in there for 12 hours at a time, creating the perfect chocolate cake. But it is excellent. It is priceless. It is the most delicious thing that I have ever ate. I could do anything to get that chocolate cake recipe.

The thing is, in general my mom isn’t all that into chocolate. She rarely makes chocolate brownies. She won’t even order a chocolate brownie when she goes out. But that chocolate cake recipe is her favourite thing in the world. Every holiday she cooks it, and each time we request for more. Nobody ever gets sick of it. Even my cousins, strict vegetarians who can only consume vegan chocolate cake recipes usually, will make an exception for her yummy chocolate cake. It really is that great.

The really sad part is that, since I first tasted that chocolate cake, I will not eat any other sort of chocolate desert. Even the greatest German chocolate cake recipe leaves me flat. Part of it is that my mom made it. It is hard to resist because she spends so much time on it, and clearly wants us to like it so much. I don’t know if I would love it quite as much if it were someone else who made it, but even so I would like it still.

She has, after all, won several cooking competitions with her chocolate cake recipe. She has only entered a few times, but every time she has entered the same recipe, and every time she has won. I have tried sneaking into the kitchen, but it was no use. She simply refused to go on cooking until I left. I hope one day she will reveal her recipe. So, in the meantime I enjoy her delicious recipe and certainly not complaining.

I Go Bananas for Bananas!

bananasBananas are the world’s most popular fruit, but did you know that bananas do not actually grow on trees? They are actually the world’s largest herb? Bananas are a fruit that everyone enjoys but they don’t seem to be one that people know a whole lot about.

Bananas grow on a banana plant in clusters that are commonly called a bunch. The true name of a bunch of bananas is called a “hand”, and each of the individual bananas on the hand are called “fingers”. The weight of an average banana is 1approximately 25 grams, which consists of approximately 75% water and 25% of dry matter content. The fleshy inner portion is sweet and delicious and widely enjoyed, but generally the peel or banana skin in not eaten.. The stringy parts of the banana flesh are called ‘phloem bundles’. Bananas contain valuable sources of Vitamin B6, Vitamin C and potassium that are healthy and that our bodies require. Many athletes commonly use bananas for energy in their physical health routines.

Bananas are grown in at least 107 countries worldwide, although they were originally native to Southeast Asia and Australia. Bananas, eaten raw in their yellow form and cooked green or red bananas, are the main staple of many African populations. Boiled or baked green bananas or plantains (a starchier version of the banana) can also be found in many Caribbean Island recipes. Bananas can be very versatile. When they are dried, bananas can be eaten as a snack food or they can be ground up and made into flour.  There is nothing that I love more than a frozen banana covered in chocolate or perhaps with fudge.

Bananas come in various sizes and colors, including the yellow, purple and red banana. Green bananas that are cooked and enjoyed in Caribbean and African cultures are really the unripe version of the yellow banana. The red banana is generally sweeter than the yellow banana and has a slight raspberry-type flavor. The skin of the red banana is red to purple in color, and has a slightly pinkish flesh. These sweet bananas can be eaten raw, or they can be used to add a wonderful color to various cooked banana dishes.

Bananas are picked green and shipped in an unripe condition due to the fact that ripe bananas are easily damaged when being transported to market. Bananas need careful handling and are easily bruised.

The flower of the banana plant (or the banana blossom or heart) is also often used in the Southeast Asian, Bengali and Indian cuisines, where they serve it raw with dips or cooked in soups and curries. Some cultures also use the tender core of the banana plant’s trunk in several dishes. Bananas can be fried, boiled or steamed and the juice extracted from the core of the plant is often used to treat kidney stones. In various cultures, banana leaves are useful for cooking as a wrapping, for carrying things in, and even as umbrellas (because of their waterproof properties).

With all of the uses of the banana plant and the general good taste, it is no wonder that bananas have become one of the world’s most popular fruits. Where else can one get so much delicious taste and healthy benefits from one source?

I have a passion for peanut butter

peanutsI have always loved peanut butter. Nothing excites me more than sinking my teeth into the gooey stuff especially with chocolate. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich or peanut butter smidgens is enough to chase my blues away.

Many people share my passion for peanut butter. I’m not the only one nuts about it. In fact, it’s a perennial favorite among the young and old alike. Kids like theirs creamy while adults generally prefer theirs crunchy.

Peanut is a cash crop in many parts of the world and farmers in the United States produce millions of pounds of peanuts a year – most of which go into the making of peanut butter.

“Americans go through 800 million pounds of peanut butter a year. That’s enough to slather a sticky aromatic layer over every school playground in the country. Being sensible folk, we eat it instead. Around three pounds a year per person. Three big rapturous, redolent, peanutty pounds,” according to Mary Roach in Hippocrates magazine.

Other people probably don’t share the American obsession for peanut butter but they are catching up as evidenced by the number of brands in supermarkets today. There are two ways of enjoying peanut butter: the regular type is made up of at least 90 percent roasted peanuts with a dash of sweeteners and salt that makes up the remaining 10 percent.

Hydrogenated vegetable oil is usually added to the mixture to keep the peanut oil from separating. To make the mixture chunky, a couple of crunchy peanut bits are added for variation.

“Natural” or old-fashioned peanut butter is made of 100 percent ground-up peanuts with no additives. This explains why some brands are oily. In the absence of stabilizers, natural oil rises to the top of the jar but this does not denote inferior quality. Slow stirring with a strong knife will help mix the oil with the rest of the stuff.

What’s so special about peanut butter? A lot. The sticky stuff is not only cheap but a good source of cholesterol-free protein. Your kids may not always like eating meat, poultry, or fish. But most of them love peanut butter sandwiches which have about the same amount of protein as the above foods.

“Peanuts are legumes; they’re actually closer to beans than nuts. Peanuts, however, contain twice the protein of cooked dry beans. A sandwich-size three-tablespoon serving of it contains 135 grams of protein – about the amount in two eggs or a 12-ounce glass of milk,” Roach said.

peanuts 1“Like other beans, peanuts are also a commendable source of dietary fiber. Three tablespoons of peanut butter contain around four grams of fiber – about as much as in a couple of slices of whole wheat bread. Smear those table¬spoons on the bread with some jam (rich in pectin, another kind of fiber), and you’ve got nearly as much fiber as you’d get from a bowl of high-fiber breakfast cereal,” she added.

What does this mean? To the billions suffering from malnutrition, peanut butter could be the savior they’re looking for. This inexpensive yet rich source of protein can certainly go a long way in alleviating the hunger of almost 200 million children under five years old who have protein-energy malnutrition – 150 million of who come from Asia.
